Braces - Orthodontics/Orthopedics

are separate yet related processes. ORTHOPEDICS relates to the development of the joints and bones. In dentistry it refers to the development of the jaw. When the jaw is not fully developed or large enough to accommodate the teeth, the teeth become crowded and crooked. After the jaws are developed to the proper size the teeth can be moved to their correct position to create the proper bite or occlusion which is ORTHODONTICS. These processes not only restore the mouth to full functional use but enhance one's facial features.
